It is actually Marine, Illinois) Photo type: Original vintage Victorian CDV Carte de Visite Photograph. Photographer: Chas. F. Valentin Ottwein, Val Ottwein 1848-1931 born and died in Madison County, Illinois. He is also seen as Valentine Ottwein in census.

Val was first married to Louisa Wehmiller Ottwein on July 23, 1875 in St. Clair County, Illinois. She may have died soon after, although we cannot find her death record. He then married Anna Schlaefer Ottwein on November 16, 1877 at St. Louis, Missouri.

His Father: Sebastian Ottwein 1818-1899 born in Bavaria (Bayern), Germany and died in Saint Jacob, Madison County, Illinois. He emigrated in America in 1846, and settled at Black Jack, Illinois, where he lived for forty years. Born in Flohmersheim, Canton Frankenthal, Koenrigareth, Bavaria. Married Eva Magdalena Wolf Ottwein in 1847. She died in Jan 1886. (she is known as Magdalena Ottwein in census)

This is a beautiful Ottwein, Otwein, Ottwin, Ottwen American German family piece, clearly marked with much genealogy info online. We feel this to be their 1877 wedding photo. It was found in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.
