His Father: Eli Baker Carleton was born 1827 Brookfield, Vermont to William Carleton 1794–1864 and (Mahala) Marcy Bucklin 1803–1840. His father William then married Nancy Cole, born 1834, who died in Waterbury, Washington County Vermont in 1918. They seem to have had one child together, Charles Carleton. Eli died in 1906 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

This is a beautiful old dated 1921 RPPC (real photo postcard) image of Susan Lilla Carleton, standing in her garden. She would be in her fifties. She is wearing a beautiful silk dress. The reverse is clearly signed by her and with her maiden name. We found evidence they lived in Bellington, Whatcom County in 1908. It was found in Western Massachusetts, and this family has strong New England ties. She is known as Susan Lillian Carleton in census records.
