"The History of Ramsey County and the City of St. Paul: Including the Explorers and Pioneers of Minnesota" (published 1881): "Rodney C Gooding was born in Groton, Tompkins County, New York in 1846. Came to St. Paul in 1856, and here he received his education. Commenced his business career with O. Curtis as an insurance agent; subsequently was cashier for the St. Paul and Sioux City railroad depot, six years. The past 10 years he has been connected with the grocery trade of P.H. Kelly and Company, as cashier. February 17th, 1876, he married Miss Sarah F. Berger, who has borne him one son and one daughter. He was on the board of PH Kelly Mercantile at the same time he was cashier, and that he was well thought of. The RC Gooding house was supposedly built in 1895, and he, his wife, children & mother-in-law were the first owners, thus the reason it has been designated with that name. James R Gooding, the son of Rodney C Gooding, ended up in Mountain Lakes, Morris, New Jersey.

James Todd Gooding, son of James R Gooding, was born in 1908 in Rochester, NY, which is where these 2 photos were found. James Rodney Gooding appeared to have only the one son, and a few daughters, one of which was Frances Gooding, who married Mr. Bartmann: Frances Bartmann.

A beautiful old Gooding Brothers set of 2 signed CDV Photos. The Gooding House in St. Paul, Minnesota is named after them.
