1860's Nicholas Lattime CDV Photo, Newburyport, Essex County, Mass


#848 Lattime Genealogy:

On reverse: "Nicholas Lattime" is handwritten in old dip pen ink and "Mrs. Nicholas Lattime" also signed in old period pencil, both at top. Photo Type: Original Antique Victorian CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, circa 1860's, Civil War era. Photographer: H.P. Macintosh, 33 State St., Essex County, Newburyport, Massachusetts. (known to be photographer Hiram P. Macintosh, Hiram Pearson Macintosh Sr 1830–1907, born in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts and worked and died in Newburyport. There are a long line of Macintosh sons named Hiram Pearson Macintosh from this important DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR Sons of the American Revolutionary War family. He was an apprentice in the 1850's under photographer Elijah R. Perkins, an ambrotype artist, and took over Perkin's studio on State St. in 1859. He worked 1850's, until his last Newburyport photography City Directory listing in 1889. He was then appointed collector of customs by President William Henry Harrison, becoming the top US customs collector in the country. He HP Macintosh is also known for his beautiful 19th c. steroview work.)

5. Sarah Woodwell Lattime 1842-1843, died as an infant
6. Aldis Lattime born 1845
7. George Lattime born 1847
8. Mary Lattime Randall 1849-1904, married George Albert Randall, jr.

This beautiful old photo was found in Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. The Lattime surname is also seen spelled incorrectly as Lattine in US census records. We believe this strongly to be Nicolas Lattime Jr. born 1809, when he was about 50 years of age. A beautiful old historic Newburyport photograph, one of our very favorite US towns.
