Printed on card: "Naomi Willson, wife of Nelson Kester, Born May 24, 1817, Married Jan. 1, 1840, Died June 6, 1891, Buried June 8, 1891 in the Webster Cemetery, Eden, NY. Mark Whiting, Funeral Director, Hamburg, N.Y, Pall bearers: Cyrus Pound, L.D. Wood, John Ansley, B. Allen. Officiating Clergymen: Elisha Griffith, Friends Minister, Boston, N.Y.
Elisha Griffith was a Quaker, thus his title as a Friends' Minister. Naomi and her husband Nelson are both buried in the Quaker Cemetery, Eden, Erie County, New York. Eden NY and Hamburg NY are both towns in Erie County.
This is a beautiful Victorian era folded mourning card on thick stock with a printed crown and cross on reverse, and black heavy mourning border. It has "In Memoriam" printed on the cover. It celebrates the Quaker life of Naomi Willson Kester.

This original old antique rag paper Quaker mourning card has beautiful 19th c. fonts and typography. It is dated 1879 and the thick black border is common to Victorian Mourning customs. It would have been handed out at her funeral procession as a 19th c. remembrance or memorial card. Found in Madison NY, Madison County. A wonderful original Kester & Willson family piece. Her husband Nelson died 1896, in the same year. Wilson is an alternative spelling of her surname.
