Edward Holmes Newcomb was a graduate of Bangor Theological Seminary, Maine in 1897; and pastor of Congregational churches in Richmond, South Portland, and Biddeford, Maine; Newburyport, Framingham, and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Keene, New Hampshire. He was the son of John Holmes and Alice Emelia Powell Newcomb; descendant of Andrew Newcomb, who came to America from England in 1630 and settled near Boston and descended also from Elder William Brewster and Governor William Bradford of the "Mayflower" company."
