Note: There is also a rubber stamp on back for the Columbia Portrait Co., Chicago Illinois, did she move there later as an adult? There is a corner chip off photograph, see photo. Does not affect her image in any way.

Laura Emma Holbrook 1880–1947 born in Whitingham, Windham County, Vermont. She married Charles Fox 1867-1932 and died Mar. 28, 1947 in Whitingham. She was the daughter of Selah & Sarah Whitney Bishop Holbrook.

Her father was Methuselah Holbrook 1846-1923 (Selah H. Holbrook) born in 1846 in Whitingham, Vermont to parents Peter Holbrook and Sarah Ann Carley Holbrook (also seen as Carly), and both his parents died around 1890. He had four brothers and seven sisters. Selah Holbrook died in 1923 at the age of 77.

2nd wife: Sarah Whitney Bishop Holbrook 1847-1884 in 1877. She was the daughter of Welcome P. Whitney 1816-1869 (Welcome Whitney) who died in Vermont, and Ruth B Lake Whitney 1819–1888 (died in Heath, Massachusetts) She was born in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Her first marriage was to Nathan Albert Bishop 1841–1875 from 1864 until his death in 1875, Ruth Lake Bishop Whitney.

Pierce (Putnam Pierce or Putnam Holland Pierce) and Martha Ann Brown Pierce. Her first husband was Martin Lucius Fox 1839-1927, a Civil war veteran who she married in 1866.

Selah Holbrook fought on the Union side in the Civil War for Vermont in the 2nd Regiment, Vermont Infantry Co. A, as a private. He received a pension. He also fought for the 6th Regiment, Vermont Infantry, Company K. This is a beautiful early Vermont piece and a wonderful portrait of Laura Holbrook Fox. An amazingly great looking kid!
