My Husband's uncle with his parents & sister " is handwritten in bold old blue fountain pen ink on a large paper label on the reverse. Photo type: Cabinet Card Photograph, a copy of an earlier Daguerreotype Photograph. Photographer: Baker & Hudson, 118 Gooch St. Birmingham, England, United Kingdom. (Known to be William R. Hudson, whose father William Hudson, was also a photographer & a partner, Edmund S Baker and/or Walter Baker, 2 baker surname photographers who are known to have worked in B'ham at the time)
A beautiful old 1840's daguerreotype image of a father, mother and two children. He wears a polka dot cravat. Possibly they are in Victorian mourning, as they are dressed heavily in black. The parents appear to have been born the 1810-20 era. The children would have been born in the early 1840's
Wonderfully, in 1949, the wife of WT Keel carefully wrote a transcription on the reverse of this photo and her address in 1949, in hre village of Hockley Heath, Warwickshire, England. We feel strongly this is the family of 19th century William Thomas Keel, as seen in the England and Warwickshire census. A lovely signed Keel family piece, found in Exeter, Devon United Kingdom. Some nice clues to follow!
Size: 1.5 x 3 inches
Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook.
