(known to be Emanuel M. Ensminger, a daguerreotype artist, daguerreian, ambrotype, photo artist in Ashland, Ohio, 1853-1868. His sons Jefferson Clay Ensminger (J.C. Ensminger) and James Madison Ensminger (J.M. Ensminger) also became photographers, known as "The Ensminger Bros.: Their Locations were Ashland Ohio, to Independence Iowa, to Florida. Note: This surname is also seen as Ensminger, Enseminger)

In 1864-66 the US government taxed photography to help pay for the American Civil war. Revenue stamps were placed on the back of photos, and "cancelled" by the photographer. This CDV has a revenue stamp.

Josiah and Agnes Lee are both buried at Hazzard Cemetery, West Salem, Wayne County, Ohio. This beautiful old photo was found in Navarre, Florida, Santa Rosa County. A beautiful close up portrait of Josiah, wearing a Civil War era Cravat. He was an early settler who lived a long life through the 19th century.
