1890's John Yerkes Tile Works Advertising Trade Card, Romulus New York

A beautiful old original vintage 1890's American advertising trade card for an old Romulus, Seneca County, New York tile company called John M. Yerkes, Jr. of the Yerkes Tile Works. There is an actual photo of John on the card, standing at his farm.

Printed Text reads: "John M. Yerkes, Jr. Proprietor of the Yerkes Tile Works, Romulus N.Y." On reverse is a half tone photo of the tile works, barn, farmhouse and a wonderful photo of Mr. Yerkes standing with a large pile of his manufactured tiles.

Found in Public Genealogy Records:
John McKnight Yerkes II 1868–1955.
His Father: John McKnight Yerkes 1827–1901 born and died in Romulus, Seneca County NY. His own father was Josiah Yerkes 1800–1866 who was born in Philadelphia and his own mother was Margaret McKnight Blaine Yerkes 1792–1860, widow of Thomas Blaine, her first husband. Josiah Yerkes was her 2nd husband.

His mother: Lucy Church 1826–1890 they married in New Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1850.

His Wife: Julia Marie Somers Yerkes in 1901. She was 1878-1922 was born in Seneca Falls, Seneca County, New York in 1878, the daughter of Ralph Somers 1841–1917 and his wife Ellen Janet Henderson Somers 1855–1953. Her siblings were Adelaide Anna Abbie Jane Somers 1875–1934, Amelia Keziah Somers "Millie Somers" 1876–1916, Ralph Ramsdell Somers 1881–1958, Delia Amanda Somers 1883–1985, May S Somers 1885–1963, Augusta Somers 1887–1915, Marguerite Gladys Somers 1893–1987, Gertrude M Somers 1895–1925, and Emily Grace Somers 1897–1998. She died in Waterloo, New York in 1922. 

Their 3 Children were:
1. Ellen Elizabeth Yerkes Keel, 1902-1990, married Floyd Thurber Keel 1889-1971 in 1945. 
2. John Ralph Yerkes, known as "Jack Yerkes" was born in 1910, in Romulus, and sadly died at the age of 19, in 1929 in Taughannock Falls, Ithaca, Tompkins Co, NY.
3. John R Yerkes 1911–1991 died in Brooklyn, New York.

John McKnight Yerkes II died in 1955 in his hometown of Romulus, at age 87.
