Yerkes Genealogy: 1890's Antique Vintage American Advertising Trade Card  for Yerkes Tile Works, Romulus, NY #522:

A beautiful old original vintage 1890's American advertising trade card for an old Romulus NY, Seneca County tile company called John M. Yerkes, Jr. Yerkes Tile Works. His actual photo is on the card at his farm.

Printed Text reads: John M. Yerkes, Jr. Proprietor of the Yerkes Tile Works, Romulus N.Y. On reverse is a half tone photo of the tile works, barn, farmhouse and a photo of Mr. Yerkes standing with a large amount of his manufactured tiles.

Found in Public Records:
John McKnight Yerkes II, bom 4 March, 1868; married, 1 January, 1900, Julia Marie Somers; born at Seneca Falls, New York, 23 December, 1878; daughter of Ralph Somers by his wife Ellen Janet Henderson (Ellen Henderson).

Mr. Yerkes is a farmer and tile manufacturer, and resides at Romulus. Child: Ellen Elizabeth Yerkes, born 26 August, 1902.

When John McKnight Yerkes II was born on March 4, 1868, in Romulus, New York, his father, John, was 40 and his mother, Lucy Yerkes, was 41. He married Julia Maria Somers (Julia Somers) on January 1, 1900, in Seneca Falls, New York. They had two children during their marriage. He died on June 10, 1955, in his hometown, at the age of 87.

Children:
His daughter Ellen Elizabeth Yerkes, (Ellen Yerkes) was born on August 26, 1902, in Romulus, New York. She married Floyd Thurber Keel (Floyd Keel) on August 6, 1945.

His son John Ralph Yerkes, known as Jack Yerkes was born on August 20, 1910, in Romulus, New York. He died at the age of 19, in 1930.

A wonderful Yerkes family and Romulus, Seneca County historical item.
