1863 50th Wedding Anniversary Book: John J. & Sarah A. Knox Civil War

A beautiful privately printed book to commemorate the 50th wedding anniversary on October 7, 1863 of John J. Knox & Sarah A. Knox, Hardcover. They married in 1810. It has an engraving of their homestead inside, and was printed in NYC by Anson D.F. Randolph on 770 Broadway, New York.

A handwritten inscription inside reads: "To Edward from his grandfather JJ Knox, July 4th '64." and also in other handwriting, "To WE Knox, from EC Anderson, son of the above Edward. Insurance 95 Millbrandt NY Home Ins Building." Some pages are loose and unhinged, but it is complete, rare and beautiful.

Found in Public Genealogy Records:
When John J. Knox was born in 1791 his father, James, was 31 and his mother, Nancy, was 31. He married Sarah A. Curtiss on October 13, 1813, in Augusta, New York. They had one child during their marriage. He died in 1863 at the age of 72.

When Sarah A. Curtiss Knox was born in 1794 her father, David, was 34 and her mother, Lucy, was 34. She married John J. Knox on October 13, 1813, in Augusta, New York. They had one child during their marriage. She died in 1863 at the age of 69 during the American Civil War.

Their son William E. Knox was born in September 1810, the child of John J. Knox and Sarah A. Knox. He died in 1863 at the age of 53. We believe this book was his, as per inscription above. This book lists many family member names and the ceremony and congratulations, all centering around Oneida & Onondaga County NY. A beautiful and original Knox family genealogy piece.
