     A beautiful old original mourning card, found in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire UK, which is in the East Midlands. The text reads: "In affectionate Rememberance of Jane Bamforth of Grove, who departed this life February the 24th, 1879, aged 86 years." Grove is a small village & civil parish, 2 miles southwest of Retford, Nottinghamshire, England. Jane was listed as a dressmaker in British Census records. We also see Bamforth family listed in the US in New England.

This beautiful old antique rag paper card has 19th c. fonts. It is dated 1879 and has a thick black border, common to Victorian Mourning customs. It would have been handed out at Jane's funeral procession as a rememberance of her life. A rare, one of a kind piece. We only have this one.
