Kent is a hamlet in Orleans County, New York, located about 6 miles northeast of the town of Albion. It was also known as East Carlton and Brice Station, and is on the border of the Town of Kendall, NY.
The only male with an R. as a middle name we found in this area and time period was John R. Hills, seen in info above. This is a guess. This old CDV photograph looks as if it may have been in a fire, is blackened. It is still a stunningly clear image of a very handsome Hills family man wearing a large wool double breasted coat. He appears about 30 years of age. It was found in Fayetteville, Onondaga County, New York. A beautiful portrait by a skilled photographer, we are hoping Hills family members in the Orleans County area may know who this handsome Civil War era gentleman is. Also see large scan of signature.
