On front: "Yours Truly, Fred Edgar" is handwritten finely in old dip pen ink. Please note: Middle initial may be an N or W. On reverse "Mary Edgar" is handwritten in fine old dip pen ink. Gurnsey, Sioux City, Woodbury County, IA. (known to be Photographer Byron H. Gurnsey, Byron Gurnsey, who worked in Sioux City from 1863-73. He was also a partner to Bill or William Illingworth in the 1860's, and a Civil war soldier in Co. C, 14th Iowa Infantry.
This is a beautiful old Civil war era CDV of a handsome young man, about 16-18 years old. He and Mary may be related to Hattie & Henry Graves of Mt. Vernon Indiana, on our site, all were found together in Cincinnati, Ohio.
