“The Shield” a magazine of PHI KAPPA PSI Fraternity: NOVEMBER 1937, Volume 58, Number 1, 1937: College Hall of Amherst College, Amherst Massachusetts:  Amherst Alumni: ERNEST M. IDE Mass. Alpha '00: Ernest Monroe Ide died in a Boston hospital March 11, 1937 after a short illness. He was born in Dudley, Mass., March 31, 1881, the son of Monroe W. and Jane D. (Walker) Ide. He was a half-brother of Rev. Herbert C. Ide, Mass. Alpha Class of 1895, of Redlands, California. He attended Nichols Academy, Dudley, and was graduated from Amherst College in the class of 1904. At one time he was G.P. of the chapter. For twenty-eight years he had been employed in the cost accounting department of the Hockanum Mills, Rockville, Connectict, being head of the department at the time of his death. This long term followed three years in the office of the Palmer Mill, Three Rivers, Massachusetts. On Jan. 11, 1909 he married Abbie Olive Burbank of Warren, Massachusetts, who, with a daughter, Nathalie Burbank Ide, survives him. The daughter is a graduate of the Connecticut College for Women and is a teacher in the Rockville High School. Brother Ide was active in civic affairs in Rockville, serving at one time as a member of the City Council. He was at various times clerk, deacon, and trustee of the Union Congregational Church in Rockville, and was a Mason. His avocation was raising rare varieties of flowers. —W.A.D.

Found in Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, this is a beautiful photo of a much loved Ide family baby. This whole family has strong DAR Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution ties on both sides. A wonderful piece.
