#128

On front: "Mrs. D. Montague" is handwritten in old period dip pen ink script at bottom. (known to be Mrs. Daniel Montague) Photo type: Original Vintage Victorian Carte de visite CDV Photograph. Photographer: Fred S. Crowell, Fredericktown, O., a beautiful ornate Victorian CDV backmark. (Fred S. Crowell 1844-1911 worked in the Norwalk, Huron County; Sandusky, Erie County; and Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He opened his own studio in Fredericktown in 1866. He was a Civil War veteran in Company K, Ohio 142nd Infantry Regiment. This CDV photo would have been taken at Fred Crowells's new Fredericktown studio directly after the war, thus we are dating it as circa 1866. In 1869, he moved to Mount Vernon where he established a photography studio and stationery store, and can be found business directories until at least 1889)
