His Father: Valentine Bunker born 1789 on Nantucket Island to Christopher Bunker Jr 1766–1824 and Dinah Folger Bunker 1768–1811.
His Mother: Lydia Higgins Bunker 1790–1832 born Nantucket Island to Isaac Higgins born 1770 and Sabara Burrage Whippey Higgins 1761–1838. (Her first husband was Edward Burrage or Burridge, she was the daughter of Nathaniel Whippey) Her siblings were Thankful Higgins 1783–1812, Hannah Higgins 1790–1871 and George Higgins 1792–1864. Her half siblings were Mary Burrage 1782–1819 and Charles Burrage born 1787.
His Wife: Esther Holmes Bunker 1821-1906 was born to Joseph Holmes and Esther Rides Holmes. She and Edward married November 28, 1840.
