This is a beautiful old 1870-80's CDV image of a beautiful baby in lace gown. This family photo is slightly trimmed on edges, usually to fit into tight paper photo albums, as most were, does not affect her actual image in any way. This is a "hidden mother" studio photo. The baby's mother would be draped behind holding the baby up for the long 30 second or more exposure in the photographer's studio, quite a feat! Found in Hampshire County MA. Her occupation was listed as a dressmaker in census records. A beautiful piece.
