-Original Cabinet Photo by 19th c Geneseo Photographer Jay Merrell
-A one of kind antique photo, when sold, no more
On Reverse: "Duane R. Peake, died May 10, 1884, age 23 years, 16 days" is boldly and beautifully handwritten in old period dip pen ink calligraphy script. Photo type: Cabinet Card Photograph. Age: 1884-85. Photographer: Merrell (known to be Jay C. Merrell, Jay Charles Merrell) Geneseo, NY, Livingston County.
This is an image of Duane that appears to be taken from an earlier photograph. We assume this to be a mourning image of this young lost 23 year old Peake stepson of Enos and Mary Wants. It is somewhat blurry from the original, but still a close up view of his face. Often early photographers would copy earlier images for bereaved family from earlier photographs.

Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook.
