1889 Dorothy Shank Upedegraff Cabinet Photo, Williamsport PA, SAR, DAR

#085

On reverse: "Dorothy E. Shank, Daughter of William Shank & Lucy Love Updegraff Shank, daughter of William Updegraff" is beautifully hand signed in fancy old dip pen ink. Photographer: New York Photographic Art Studio, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, dated "copyright 1889" in backmark. Corner 3rd & Pine Sts, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Pine is crossed off and Market Street is handwritten in. (thought to be Williamsport photographers Edmond Neville MacCollin 1847-1913 and his brother Andrew Washington Fleming MacCollin 1846-1923 known as A.W.F. MacCollin, also seen as Mac Collin and McCollin. Edmond opened a new studio around 1890 when his brother left to pursue acting and opera in NYC, this may be it, although we believe the name did not last. Their studio is mentioned in directories as 3rd and Pine Street)

The photo has a streak across it, as seen in our scan, but is beautiful and clean with a great image of baby Dorothy.
