Photographer: New York Gallery, Beale Photographer, 263 Main Street, Po'keepsie, N.Y. . (known to be photographer Aurelius Beale, Aurelius M. Beale, born in Bangor, Maine. He fought in the Civil War. His first wife was Mary Porter Wood Beale, whom he married during the war in Washington DC in 1854. His second wife was Eustatia A Beale. He had 3 children, a son and two daughters. He was the owner of the "New York Gallery" in Poughkeepsie)
This Budd / Bud family photo has a beautifully handwritten signature. We wish all our photos had the same. It was found in Kingston, Ulster County, New York. Note the shortened and accepted 19th c. spelling of Poughkeepsie as Po'keepsie on the photo backmark. This is a beautiful old piece. We feel they would have been born in the 1810-1830 range.
