Found in Google books: The Sabbath Recorder, Volume 74, Alfred NY Printed in 1912: "Adrian Hemphill was born in Hartsville, Steuben Co., N.Y. on February 5, 1841, and died near Alfred Station, NY on January 5, 1913, lacking one month of being 72 years of age. He was the eldest of twelve children born to Robert D. Hemphill and Arilda (Babcock) Hemphill, eight of whom are still living: James & Guerdon Hemphill of Salmon, Idaho; Mrs. Sarah Watson of Watson, Montana; Elverston Hemphill of Elmira, N.Y.; Fred Hemphill of Lewis Run, PA; Miss Betsey Hemphill and Mrs. Elizabeth Sherman, both of Alfred, and Mrs. Ruth Sherman of Alfred Station, where her brother spent the last few weeks of his life. Adrian was a genial and in many ways gifted man. Farewell services were held at the home of his sister, where he died."
