Mary E Crocker graduated from High School in the Class of 1924 at Unadilla High, Otsego County, NY. This is her one of a kind own original high school diploma, and is a beautiful original piece. It was found in Kingston, Ulster County, New York NY.

The diploma is dated June 24, 1924 and is hand signed by 3 people: Ray O. Lewis, President; R.D Kochendorfer (known to be Robert Kochendorfer) Secretary; and Basil Warner Conrad, Principal. The reverse has her own signature or autograph handwritten in old period pencil, see photo.

From the Bainbridge News & Republican Newspaper, February 21, 1946:  
The death of Otto H. Crooker, a Unadilla in Otsego County, NY, hardware merchant, occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Sidney hospital after a few days illness. He was 60 years of age. Mr. Crooker is survived by his wife, a son, William Crooker, of San Francisco, California and a daughter Mrs. Edward Ashton, of Norwich NY. Otto Crooker was born in Masonville, Delaware County, NY on April 8, 1885, and was the only son of William H. and Jennie Pratt Crooker. The greater part of his life was spent in Unadilla. He moved to Unadilla from Masonville with his parents when a young boy. For a few years they resided in Superior, Wisconsin, where Otto Crooker was married. Shortly after the family returned to Unadilla and he was associated with his father in the hardware business. The funeral was held Friday, at the Crooker home. Rev. Francis Blake, rector of St Mathew's Episcopal church, officiating. Burial will be made in Evergreen Hill Cemetery.

Mary married Thomas Edward Ashton 1905-1971 in 1944, he was known as Edward. He was a WWII veteran in the New York Tec. 5, 447 Ordnance Co. Note: Unadilla, new York is in Otsego County, and the name is an Iroquois Native American word for "meeting place". The town of Unadilla is located in the southwest corner of the county, southwest of Oneonta.

Interestingly when she was married she became known as Mary C. Ashton, and seems to have dropped the E as a middle name. She and her family are buried at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Poplar Hill Road One Sidney, Delaware County, New York.A beautiful large original piece.
