1903 signed Chester Joy Photo at about age 20, found in New England
#1079 Vintage 1903 Photograph of Chester Joy as a Young Man
On reverse: "Chester Joy, 1903" is clearly handwritten in old fountain pen ink. Photo Type: small Dry Mount photograph circa 1900. Photographer: embossed on card as Dewey, area unknown.
This photo was found in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Franklin County, New York, about 10 miles from the Massachusetts and Vermont border. Do you know this Joy family? We were able to find a circa 1900 photographer in Vermont named Leon Dewey, but do not know if it was his, do you?.
There is an illegible handwritten word or name in upper left corner. It appears as Lessie, Hessie, Chessie? was that his nickname? See photo below:
We believe Chester would have been born roughly about 1875 to 1885.
It was found in Franklin County, Massachusetts near the Brattleboro, Windham County, Vermont border, but could honestly be from any state in America. Any help or correction is appreciated, email Debra here.
Size: 2 1/4 x 3 inches
Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook. Thank you, enjoy! ~Debra Clifford (contact info on top bar)
