Her siblings were Mary E Merchant born 1872; Charles Henry Merchant born 1873 who married Annie L Preston Merchant 1876–1967 (2 children: Henry Preston Merchant 1905–1981 who 1st married Ruth Ellery Cheney 1915–1999, then Grete Schulz 1899–1975 and Doris Merchant 1913–2003 who married Frederick Bernays Wiener 1906–1996) and lastly, Lucia Merchant 1885–1955.
Her father Charles was the son of Noah Merchant or Noah H Merchant 1813–1884
of Connecticut and Mary Angell Merchant 1803–1863 or Rhode Island, who was the daughter of Abner Angell 1773–1853 and Barbara Roberts Angell 1778–1842. This line goes back to Israel Angell 1740–1832 and Martha Angell 1747–1793 and Oliver Angell 1717–1799 and Naomi Smith Angell 1720–1799 of Providence County, Rhode Island. This family has important DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR Sons of the American Revolutionary War family ties. Her mother Georgiana Starr 1845–1912, born in New York and died in Trail, British Columbia, Canada.
