1872 Hollis Andrews & Libbie Sutliff Marriage Certificate, Corinth NY

This is a wonderful large genealogy 14 x 17 inch antique wedding certificate poster for the Andrews & Sutliff family of Corinth NY, found intact in wonderful shape. It is a beautiful 1872 photography marriage certificate, with handwritten information and 2 beautiful tintype portraits of the recently married couple, Hollis Andrew (also seen as Holis Andrews) and Elizabeth Sutliff of Corinth, Saratoga County, NY. She was known by the nickname "Libbie".

Hollis L Andrews 1846-1919 died at the age of 72 and buried at the Corinth Rural Cemetery in Corinth, Saratoga County, New York. He married Elizabeth Sutliff, and here is their marriage announcement:

The Saratogian Newspaper for Thursday, Dec. 12, 1872: Married: Andrew-Sutliff at South Corinth. November 26th, by Rev. E.D. Andrews. Mr. Hollis L. Andrew and Miss Libbie Sutliff, both of Corinth. Saratoga Springs NY: Saratogian News for 1872

Hollis Andrew's parents were Truman H Andrews 1816–1890 and Fidelia or Phidelia, Adelia, or Delia Washburn Andrews 1822–1887, born in Vermont, the daughter of Samuel Washburn. Her name is seen with many variations in public records.

His many siblings were: Josephine M Andrews Delong 1845–1909 who married Parvin Delong 1843-1898; Horace Andrews born 1846, death date unknown; Gurrilda or Gerilda Andrews Wheaton 1850–1929 who married Thomas R Wheaton, 1850–1932, also known as Rilla Andrews or Rilla Wheaton; Alice Matilda Andrews Hawkins 1852–1937 who married Frederick Jackson Hawkins 1845–1897; Lucy M Andrews Folts 1854–1935, who married Isaac S Folts 1850–1914; Angenette Andrews Sparling, known as Nettie Andrews Sparling 1857–1919 who married James Wooley Sparling 1853–1928; Sophronia Andrews Sanger 1858–1942 who married James F Sanger 1864–1936; Ellen M Andrews 1863–1921; Loretta Andrews born 1864 who also most likely is the same as Etta Andrews Heath 1865–1934, who married Corydon Heath 1868–1939 (Cory Heath) and lastly, Andrew Andrews, life dates unknown.

Hollis's wife Libbie was Elizabeth Sutliff 1858–1940 aka as Libbie Sutliff who was born and died in New York State. Her parents were Walter Sutliff 1812–1861 and Sarah Ellis Sutliff Flansburgh Sutliff 1818–1905 daughter of Elijah Ellis and Anna Pitts Ellis. Her mother's 2nd spouse after Elijah died was William Henry Flansburgh 1809–1897 (Flansburg)

Hollis & Libbie's children were Ina Andrews born 1874; Delia Andrews 1876–1892, died age 16; Lena Andrews born 1877, Lelah Andrews born 1878; Walter Hollis Andrew 1884-1943 who married Ora R. Rollman Andrew 1882–1970 and Inez Andrew Rhodes 1874-1930 who married Van R. Rhodes (Vanrenselar Rhodes, also seen spelled as VanRensselear) in 1893 in Greenfield Center, a hamlet in Saratoga County, New York. He was the son of Edwin Rhodes 1839-1919 and Phebe Havens Rhode 1844-1904.

Note on Pastor: Rev. Rodney Dutton Andrews 1836–1928 born in Meredith, Delaware, New York, and died in Greenfield Center, Saratoga, New York. His parents were Henry Andrews 1811–1886 and Sarah M Hollister Andrews 1818–1897. He was first married to Amelia White Andrews 1834–1863. When she died he married Sarah Ann Whitney Andrews 1839–1927 in 1864, in Civil War years. We do not know his relation to Holiis, but assume there is one. NOTE: This early paper wedding certificate was printed by publishers Crider and Brother at 27 West Market St in York, Pennsylvania. DW Crider, David W. Crider or David Wilson Crider 1842-1914, his brother H.M. Crider, Henry M. Crider or Henry Mouer Crider 1839-1903 and S.L. Kephart began the Kephart, Crider and Brother in 1865, with Kephart leaving soon after they began.

This large piece was most likely once framed, and thus kept in such good condition. It was found in Brimfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. The surname Andrew is seen as both Andrew and Andrews in census records. A stunning photo cet with certificate, with super clear tintype close up portrait photos of Libbie & Hollis. We were thrilled to find it. Most likely the only copy in existence.
