#1037 Kinne Genealogy, Indiana
On reverse: "Picture of Mary L. Kinne"" is handwritten in pencil. Photo type: CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, Victorian. Photographer: McDonald. South Bend, Saint Joseph County IN. (known to be photographer Albert J. McDonald, 1841-1917, born in Rochester, Monroe County, New York and died in LaGrange, Cass County, Michigan. This photography firm is still in existence, and is the oldest photography studio in the Michiana area, which is an area in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan, centered around South Bend)
A beautiful baby photo of little Mary. She lays on an antique Victorian "paisley" and almost has a soft painting feel to it, a testament to the very skilled Arthur McDonald photographer. It was found in Fayetteville, Onondaga County, New York. Does she have family in that area? We did not easily find her in census records, but hope you may in the Michiana, Berrien County area.
This is a "hidden mother" studio photo. The baby's mother would be draped behind the blanket holding the baby up for the long 30 second or more exposure in the photographer's studio, quite a feat! A lovely piece.
Size: 2.5 x 4 inches Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook. Thank you, enjoy! ~Debra Clifford (contact info on top bar)
