(known to be well known NYC photographer James Alba Bostwick 1846-1927, born in Livonia, New York. His father was Lyman Bostwick 1802–1874 of Madrid, St Lawrence County, New York, who died in Rochester, Monroe County, NY. His mother was Rebecca Bond Bostwick. He worked in Rochester for a time, and also was in partnership as Bostwick and Bancker at one time. A body of his work is in the University of New Hampshire’s library collection. This is an early CDV image, taken during the Civil War years when he would be about 20 years of age)

We found evidence of the Rolph or Rolfe family in Avoca: 
Mary Recelia Rolfe Fulton 1844–1923 born in Avoca, Steuben, New York, and died age 78 in Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska married to Hugh Fulton 1844–1920, with two children: Joseph Rolfe Fulton 1877–1963 and Carry Fulton born 1879. Her parents were Joseph Rolfe 1800–1878 born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and died in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania and Eliza Reed Rolfe 1802–1866. This family comes from a long line of Rolfe family in the Perth Amboy, Middlesex, New Jersey area. This is an important DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR Sons of the American Revolutionary War family. Mary's siblings were Rollin Milton Rolfe 1830–1913, Perthenia Jane Rolfe 1834–1894, Deforest Persons Rolfe 1839–1902 and half siblings Hannah S Rolfe 1820–1883, Ann Jennette Rolfe 1821–1882, Furman Rolfe 1826–1921 and Mahala Rolfe 1828–1891.

We cannot directly find Maggie Rolph in Steuben or surrounding records. We will let an expereinced Rolf, Rolfe, Rolph, Ralfe, Ralph, or Rolff, Rolffe etc. family researcher find beautiful Maggie. This appears as if it might be a school photo. It was taken during the Civil War era, about 1860-68, by our best estimate.
