On reverse: "This is a picture of Wil's that was taken six or seven years ago on a Sunday. His hair needed cutting and pushed it up with his fingers and it fell over his face. Mother would never let any of them to be sent away. They have laid in trunk ever since. I send you one for fun. Just the face looks exactly like him but this hair makes him look wild. Will Thompson, Yorkville, Ill." is handwritten in old period pencil. "Relative of C.B. Myers" is also handwritten in old blue fountain pen ink, presumably years later. William was a tailor, as well as his sister Phebe Thompson, listed as a "tailoress." He was also listed as a Justice of the Peace in Yorkville at one time. Note: He is incorrectly listed as his sister Phoebe's husband in later census records. We do not believe either ever married or had children.
