1860's Roxanna Torrey Cropsey CDV Photo, Oswego County, New York

#460:

Handwritten on reverse: "Roxanna Cropsey, Friend of Lairna Jemima" and underneath this the name "Allison Harmon" is handwritten in old black period dip pen ink. See scan, or could it be Lairna Allison and Jemima Harman? A mystery!?!

Photo type: Original Victorian CDV or Carte de Visite Photograph, circa 1860's Civil War era. Roxanna appears to be in her thirties, born roughly around 1830. It is possible her friends name is one long name as in Lairna Jemima Allison Harman or Lairna Jemima Allison Harmon. (or possibly Laura) These friends could have attended a young women's seminary school with Roxy or Roxanna and been from other areas. We easily found Roxanna Cropsey in Oswego County NY census records below. The Harman and/or Harmon family is also easily found in Oswego NY records.
