In history, Myles Standish 1584-1656 was an important traveler to America on the Mayflower. An English military officer, he was hired by the Pilgrims as military adviser for the American Plymouth Colony. The famous poem, "The Courtship of Miles Standish" was published in 1858 by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and immortalized him and the Pilgrim experience.
This is a wonderful signed Civil War CDV of and important Standish ancestor. The image is of a handsome Miles Standish about 20 years old taken during the war, wearing Infantry Captain officer shoulder straps or boards. It is signed "Captain Miles Standish." It was found in Rockport, Knox County, Maine, a beautiful and rare piece. This is also an important DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR Sons of the American Revolutionary War family.

I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both.
