1860's Jennison Jenison Family CDV Photo, Hartford County, Connecticut
#576 Jenison Jennison Genealogy:
On reverse: "Jenison Family" is handwritten in pencil, age written unknown, looks to be written in more contemporary times, possibly removed from a Jenison family album. Photo Type: Original Vintage Victorian CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, circa 1860’s, Civil war era. Photographer: S.H. Waite, 271 Main Street, Hartford, Connecticut in Hartford, Litchfield County. (known to be photographer Stephen Waite or Stephen H. Waite 1832-1906 )
This photograph was removed from a photo album found in the Northampton area of Massachusetts, Hampshire County. A very kind dealer/ collector was finding and saving extensive family and genealogy material in the 1980-1990’s in the New England area. We have worked with her on hundreds of items. She traveled and bought at many auctions and flea markets, carefully rewriting the family names as they were originally written on the decrepit album sleeves, Often the early antique photo albums do not stand the test of time.
This photo is slightly trimmed on edges, usually to fit into the tight paper Victorian photo albums, as they were. It does not affect the actual image in any way.
Found in Public Genealogy Records:
4 Jennison Jenison males found in early Hartford CT Public Records:
1. Hastons Jefferson Jenison (Hastons Jenison)
2. Hampton S Jenison (Hampton Jenison)
3. Josiah Jenison or Jennison: born 1813, wife was Abigail H Field Jenison
4. Lucius Jennison
An alternative spelling is Jenison / Jennison. We’re hoping Jenison genealogy researchers may find who this wonderful old stately 19th c. era New England gentleman is. He appears to be born about 1810. A wonderful portrait by a skilled photographer. He may also have Massachusetts ties.
Size: 2.5 x 4 inches Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook. Thank you, enjoy! ~Debra Clifford (contact info on top bar)
