We did find a Henry Snyder, his occupation was a cooper in Chillicothe. A cooper is someone who makes wooden, staved vessels, bound together with hoops such as casks, barrels, buckets, tubs, butter churns, etc. He appears as a hard working man in this photo. It is possible he fought in the American Civil War.
This family photo is slightly trimmed on edges, usually to fit into photo albums, as many were. Does not affect the beautiful image in any way. Was his name John Henry Snyder, James Henry Snyder, Jacob Henry Snyder? This family photo is slightly trimmed on edges, usually to fit into photo albums, as many were. Does not affect the beautiful image in any way. This is one of those amazing American images. He is a pioneer type wearing a Civil War era sack coat, silk cravat at neck. He looks almost ready to speak. A beautiful piece.
Size: 2.5 by 4 inches
