Card 1- Text on card reads:

Ferrin, Jobber of English, French, German Toys, Fancy Goods, Stationery, Games, Books, Soaps, China, Ornaments, Carriages, Wooden carts, Sleds & c., Fire Works of all Kinds. No. 74 Weybosset Street, Providence, R.I." 1879, Printed by L. Prang & Co. Boston U.S.A. This features HMS Pinafore scenes of a boat in navy blue, pastel blue, black and cream inks.

Card 2- Text on card reads: "Fair Moon to the I Sing!" HMS Pinafore. "Frank C. Ferrin, Jobber of English, French, German Toys, Fancy Goods, Stationery, Games, Books, Soaps, China, Ornaments, Carriages, Wooden carts, Sleds & c., Fire Works of all Kinds. No. 74 Weybosset Street, Providence, R.I." 1879, Printed by L. Prang & Co. Boston U.S.A. This features HMS Pinafore scenes of man on a boat deck and a full moon, playing a mandolin in the same navy blues, pastel blues, black and cream inks. 

Note on printer: Louis Prang 1824-1909 was a famous printer, lithographer, and publisher, known as the originator of the Christmas card. He was born in Germany, and based in Boston, Massachusetts. His 19th c. printing work and lithography is stunning and collectible on its own.

These are two beautiful early Prang 1879 advertising trade cards, found together in Brimfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. Frank ran a successful Rhode Island business, seemingly growing from a stationer to more of a large toy store. This is a beautiful and rare set of two of his large original vintage Victorian business advertising cards. We wish we could take a walk through his amazing 19th c. store!
