1860's John Jeffers CDV Photo of Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois

#1063 Civil War CDV Photo of John Jeffers

On reverse:  "Jno. Jeffers, Lyndon, Ill" is handwritten in old dip pen ink. Photo type: CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, Victorian. Photographer: H.M. Platt, Oberlin, Lorain County, Ohio. (known to be photographer Henry M. Platt, or Henry Martin Platt 1836–1899, born and died in Oberlin, OH, the son of Alanson A. Platt 1791–1866 and Elizabeth Ward Beach Platt 1791–1856, an early Daguerreian artist and photographer starting in Oberlin in the 1850's)

Found in Public Genealogy Records: John Lyndon Jeffers 1843–1918 was  born in Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois, and died in New Florence, Montgomery County, Missouri. He married Charlotte Frances Allen 1842–1908 of Tinmouth, Rutland County, Vermont in 1868 in Missouri. She was the daughter of Lamson Allen 1800–1877, born in Vermont and Ruth Taylor Allen 1801–1882, born in Connecticut to Samuel Taylor and Olive Pomeroy Taylor. Charlotte & John's children were Samuel Allen Jeffers 1870–1923, Ruth Philena Jeffers Banks 1871–1959, Mary Allen Jeffers 1872–1949, John Jeffers Jr. 1879–1907, Katherine Helen Jeffers 1881–1970 and other children who sadly appeared to have died in infancy. John was a Civil War veteran in the Co. K, Ohio Infantry.

Interestingly, this photo is signed Jno for John, as we often see in this area.  This is also how he is listed himself in the 1880 US census:
