Henry Francis Sawtell in the Missouri Death Certificates, 1910-1962
Name: Henry Francis Sawtell
Death Date: 2 Mar 1928
Death Place: St. Louis, Missouri

Henry was a Civil War soldier in Company 2nd, Massachusetts 2nd Infantry, the 62nd Mass and the 4th unattached MA. We believe this photo was taken in the 1860's when he was a soldier in Saint Louis, although more work needs to be done on his service and the retravels of his regiment. He seems to have lived in the areas of Chicago Illinois, Massachusetts, Iowa and Missouri in his long life. He died at age 85, unusual in those days. He was listed as a bookseller when young. Any help or correction appreciated, email Debra here.

A beautiful image and early autographed Civil War CDV photo on Henry in his twenties. It was found in Brimfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, not far at all from his place of birth. Sawtelle is another spelling of this surname.
