Note: The William Wilson & Co. Lilybank Boiler Works in Glasgow, Scotland was founded by William Wilson in 1852, and was carried by his 2 sons after his death in 1893. They had already been his business partners in this family business for years. It was located on the South Side of Glasgow, a mile from the Royal Exchange, and had frontages to Eglinton Street, Pollokshaws Road, and Lilybank Street. The boiler making complex consisted of 2,500 square yards, and was one of the largest and most important centers of the boiler making industry in Glasgow. Wilson boilers were used by mills, public works, and institutions throughout the United Kingdom, and also many foreign markets.
In 1933 John Thompson acquired 80% of the shares in Wilson Boilermakers Ltd of Glasgow. In the 1950's it became known as John Thompson (Wilson Boilers) Ltd.
This is a vintage original glass Glasgow Scotland advertising paperweight is from the Victorian era. It was found in Shepton Mallett, Somerset County, South West England.
