William Hayward 1834-1874, a singer, born in Cheltenham, Cheltenham Borough, Gloucestershire, England and died in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. His father was Henry Hayward 1807-1889 born in Gloucestershire, England and died in Litchfield, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, and mother was Maria Howell Hayward 1800-1857, also born in Gloucestershire, England UK. His parents married in St Mary's Church, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England in 1833 and emigrated to America. His brother was Captain Henry Hayward, Civil War soldier in Co. E of the 2nd NH Infantry.
His wife: Georgianna Durant Hayward 1848–1930, born in Worcester County, Massachusetts, also a concert singer, they married in 1856. Their child was William Henry Hayward 1866–1943, known as Harry Hayward. Georgiana remarried to Frank Messinger Lyon 1848–1925 after William died in 1874, and they lived in Worcester, Mass.

William & Georgianna were both concert singers who traveled and sang performances in large US cities such as Boston, New York and Chicago. Known as "The Haywards", they were a singing group in the 19th c. and both traveling performers. They would sell these CDV photo portraits of themselves at performances. This is a very clear and stunning portrait of them both. This photo is trimmed on edges, usually to fit into the tight Victorian paper photo album sleeves. It does not affect their actual image in any way. It was found in Rutland, Rutland County Vermont.

Size: 2.5 x 4 inches
