1860's Frances White Cotner hand tinted CDV Photo, Medina County, Ohio

On Front and on reverse: "Frances Cotner" is clearly handwritten in fountain pen on front and again in pencil on reverse by the same hand. Photo type: Original Vintage Victorian CDV carte de visite Photograph, circa mid 1860's, hand colored or tinted. Photographer: Unmarked, Unknown.

This is a mid 1860's Civil War Era CDV of a lovely young woman about 12-14 years of age. Frances is wearing a handmade dress with black trim, a necklace, earrings and a bracelet. She has curly hair, in which she is wearing blue hand tinted flowers with green tinted leaves, long before the advent of color photography. This photo was found in Virginia. We believe we have found in her census records below. She is the only Frances Cotner (and there are very few) in census records that matches up perfectly with the age of the CDV photo, born 1853.
