1870's A.C. or Dr. Alexander Campbell Farr Tintype Photo, Indiana


On Front: "Dr A.C. Farr, Gosport, Indiana" is handwritten in fancy old period dip pen ink script. "Dr." is also handwritten in front of his name, presumably at a later date when he became a physician. "Sweetie" is also handwritten in the same hand. Photo type: Original Victorian 1870's Tintype Photograph in CDV size paper mat, embossed, very fancy. Photographer: unmarked, unknown.

Father: Nathan Farr (1822-1893)
Mother: Martha Goss Farr (1827-1864)
Wife: Cynthia A. Teague Farr (1850 - 1925)
Buried at Union Christian Cemetery, Paragon, Morgan County, Indiana

His father, Civil War Veteran Nathan Farr was born in 1822 in Wayne Township, Owen County, Indiana, and died in 1893 in Morgan, Indiana. He married Martha Goss (Martha Goss Farr) in 1843 in Owen, Indiana.

They had 12 children born in in Morgan, Indiana: 
1. Isabel Farr 1844-1862 
2. Doctor Alexander Campbell Farr 1846-1930 He married Cynthia A. Teague (Cynthia Teague Farr) in 1875 in Morgan, Indiana. 
3. Sarah C. Farr (Sarah Farr) 1848-1871 died in Montgomery County, Coffeyville, Labette, Kansas
4. Daniel W. Farr (Daniel Farr) 1850-1866 
5. Juretta Malinda Farr (Juretta Farr, Juretta M. Farr) 1852-1878
6. Susanna Farr born 1853
7. Melinda J. Farr (Melinda Farr) 1852-1878
8. Rebecca Farr 1853-1889
9. Martha Bethsaida Farr 1857-1942. (Martha Farr, Martha B. Farr, Bethsaida Farr also known as Bertha Farr)
10. Victoria Farr 1859-1942
11. Curtis Daniel Farr (Curtis D. Farr, Curtis Farr) 1861-1862
12. Scott Barber FARR (Scott B. Farr, Scott Farr) 1862-1863

This is a beautiful Dr. Alexander Farr family photo. It was found in Madison County, New York and depicts a very young image of Dr. Farr, clearly signed or autographed by him. It is signed "Sweetie" and may have belonged to his young wife Cynthia Teague Farr, they married in 1875. Alex Farr appears to be in his late teens or early twenties in this photo. Gosport is a town in Wayne Township, Owen County, Indiana and Bloomington, where he was known to have his medical practice, is in Monroe County, Indiana.
