This is an antique advertising business card. It has some discoloration, as if it were once glued into a scrapbook or album. The reverse has printed info on how the business has 25,000 dollars as its disposal, and published guide books of the "Far West" - The Trans Mississipi Country.

Note: This term was a name applied to a region of the United States in the 19th century which consisted of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas, and the Indian Territory. It was especially used by the Confederate States of America, which had its Trans-Mississippi headquarters at Shreveport, Louisiana in Caddo County and Marshall, Texas in Harrison County. The Trans Mississipi Country is a geographical term generally used today only when it relates to the study of the American Civil War.

George A. Crofutt hired the 1872 painting by John Gast called "American Progress" or "Westward the Course of Destiny". He published the book "Crofutt's Western World" and a copy of the allegorical print was given free subscribers.

This original business card was found in Batavia, Genesee County New York NY. The Tuerk surname is also seen as Turk. Chicago is in Cook, DuPage and Lake County. This card is most likely one of the the only few copies in existence.
