Maria Theresa Harris 1849-1920, died age 70 an buried at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. We do not believe she married. Her father was James Arnold Harris 1815–1891, son of Silas Harris 1788-1823 (First cousin of Asahel Harris, buried in his Scituate family plot) and Alice Round Harris 1788-1847. Her mother was Elizabeth Wheeler Potter Harris 1818–1880, daughter of Waterman Potter 1782-1852 and Clarissa Wolcott Potter 1793-1823. Her siblings were Clara Wolcott Harris 1843–1843, died infant; Silas W Harris 1845–1845, died infant; Edward Potter Harris 1853–1920, died age 67, married Elnora M Knight Harris born 1858; Dr. George Albert Harris 1855–1928, married Ella Louisa Smith Harris 1857–1943 and Henry Wolcott Harris 1858–1914, who married Josephine E. Steere Harris 1853–1930.
This is a beautiful Civil war era rich brown sepia CDV portrait of young Maria, at about 13-17 years of age, taken during, or soon after the Civil War in the mid 1860's. It was found in Brimfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. A beautiful New England Harris family piece.
