We could not find his parents in the Abram Covert Farm Cemetery, Ovid, Seneca County, NY although believe many there are related to Stewart. It appears he was raised by Patience & Stewart Covert, who are buried in the McNeal Cemetery in Ovid, Seneca County, New York.

A beautiful 1860's Civil War era CDV Photo of a Hector, New York couple. A clearly signed portrait, and very possibly their Victorian wedding photo. They would have traveled to the "big city" of Ithaca to have this photo taken. It was found in Murphy, Josephine County, Oregon.
