Corporal Richard J. Shaffner of the 57th, 84th, and 105th PA. Born in Lawrence, Clearfield, Pennsylvania in 1840 to Samuel Shaffner and Eliza Conklin Shaffner. Richard J married Kenturah J Ogden (also listed as Keturah Cessna) in 1871, and had 5 children. He passed away on 1916 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
R.J. Shaffner, enlisted October 24, 1861 as a private; captured at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 3, 1863; transferred to Co. K, 57th P.V. (Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers) on January 13, 1865; Civil War veteran. In later years he lived with Charles Kozel family in Pennsylvania census records, and is listed as their stepfather.
