1860's Mrs. Abigail Chapin's Photo of Chapin Family Elder born 1700's
#867 Chapin Genealogy:
On reverse: "Mrs. Abigail Chapin" is handwritten in old period pencil. This photo is of an elderly gentleman born in the 18th century, about 1780, directly after the Revolutionary War. Photo Type: Original Antique Victorian CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, circa 1860's, Civil war era. Photographer: Unmarked, Unknown.
This photo was found in Niles, Berrien County & Cass County, Michigan, about 5 miles from South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It is rare and beautiful to see an 1860's photo of such an elder, if only he could speak! Chapin genealogy researchers should enjoy the challenge of searching for him, born about 1780 and died after the mid 1860's. We feel he appears about 80 years of age in the photo, all a rough guess. It is assumed this Chapin family would have DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR Sons of the American Revolutionary War ties.
Size: 2.5 by 4 inches
Note: Hello from ~debra. I have spent years collecting over 10,000 ID’d lost family photos & paper from US flea markets & antique shops. I do the best gen research I can, but am always open to corrections. This is an original antique item, not a reprint. A new high quality rigid sleeve is included for extra protection, especially during shipping. You may buy a piece alone, or large intimate 300 dpi scans of the front and back sent immediately via email, or both. Please search carefully, as they are often found together and many may be related. I also invite you to join me at Ancestorville Genealogy on facebook. Thank you, enjoy! ~Debra Clifford (contact info on top bar)
