1877 Leo Austrian Co. Advertising Billhead, Chicago, Cook County, IL


     This is a beautiful early American printed receipt and advertising billhead for the Leo Austrian & Co. in Chicago, Cook County and Kane County, Illinois. It is dated 1889 and is written to "M.S. Allen, Warsaw" in Wyoming County, New York. They purchased a Victorian era hall rack for a total of $21.00.

This piece has great architectural graphics depicting the Leo Austrian Co. huge brick factory with horse and buggies sitting out front, in downtown early historical Chicago.

The Leo Austrian Company manufactured mirrors & hat racks, with their offices and factory at 110 to 114 Jefferson St. and a large salesroom at 381 Wabash Ave, Chicago. This piece was found in Madison, Madison County, New York. Leo may be a nickname for Leopold, Leon, or Leonard Austrian. This is also a wonderful Warsaw NY Allen family historical item too!
