1940's Jay Winney Vintage Business Card, Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence NY
Printed on this antique / vintage business card: "The Twin Maples, J.E. Winney, Prop, Cabins-Lunches, Beer, Midway between Ogdensburg and Morristown, Route 37. Tourist Camp, The Safest and Most Comfortable in this Locality" This is in the Adirondack Mountains.

Jay E. Winney & his first wife Jennie C. Winney are in the census and local business directory for this area in the 1930's-early 40's. He then married Helen Forrest in 1946. Her maiden name was Helen Irene Forrest, and her parents were William Forrest and Eliza E Conley. Her first married name was Helen Regis, then Helen Winney.
Jay Winney's Watertown NY obituary states: "He had a son, Allen Winney, living in Ogdensburg; one grandchild and two sisters. He was born May 25, 1890 in Rochester, son of Oliver Winney and Evelyn Winney. He spent 22 years in branches of the armed forces, Navy, National Guard and Army. He made the first trip around the world with the Teddy Roosevelt fleet and retired as a lieutenant." He died in 1970 at age 80.
Ogdensburg and Morristown, New York are in St. Lawrence County. The Adirondack mountains are a beautiful area of NYS and a very busy travel spot and route in the era of this camp. This old piece will be sent in a new clean archival rigid sleeve for your collection. This was a personal business card for this Winney ancestor. A beautiful old piece.
