#1121 Hester "Dolly" Osmond Genealogy

A beautiful jet black folded paper Edwardian era Mourning or Memorial card for 21 year old Dolly Osmond, who died in 1915 during the WWI years. Her actual full name was Hester Mary Osmond, known as Dolly, as pointed out on the card.

Card text reads:
In loving memory of Hester Mary (Dolly), Elder daughter of Henry T and Mary A. Osmond, who died Dec 10th, 1915, aged 21 years & 10 months. There are also 2 religious paragaraphs at top and bottom. This is a fancy thick black glossy paper folder, with black filigree edge.

Family: Her father was Henry Thomas Osmond 1858–1927 born and died in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales. his mother was Esther Kemble Osmond 1833–1893 born in Caldicote, Monmouthshire, Wales and died in Cardiff. His father was Thomas Osmond born 1831 in Sampford Peverell, Devon, England, the son of Richard Osmand 1801–1869 of South Molton, Devonshire and Mary Hooper 1810–1862, born in Burlescombe, Devon, England, who also died in South Molton, Devon. Henry is listed as a "Timber Yard Labourer" in the 1911 census.

In 1880, he first married Sarah Jane Osmond born 1860 in Newport, Monmouth, Wales, her death is unknown. In 1888 he married Mary Ann Osmond 1866–1932 of Little Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. She who also died in Cardiff, in 1932. Their children and Hester's siblings were Joseph John Osmond 1889–1970; Albert Ernest Osmond 1891–1917; Elizabeth Jane Osmond 1894–1907; Arthur Edward Osmond 1898–1975; and Lily Kathleen A Osmond 1900–1919.

A beautiful old and sad piece for the death of young Dolly Osmond. It was found in Newton Abbot, Devon, England which presumably is the family tie to Devon. It has two silk tassles and appears she was much loved, a beautifully uncommon mourning piece.
