On reverse: "Julia A. Wiley, Cooleyville, Massachusetts" is handwritten in old period dip pen ink. Cooleyville is in Franklin County. Photo Type: CDV Carte de Visite Photograph, circa 1870's. Photographer: M.O.T. Coleman, Collins Art Gallery, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. (known to be photographer Milton Coleman, or M.O.T. Coleman, Milton Oliver Thompson Coleman 1849-1940)

Julia A Wiley Snow 1856-1884 was born to Moses Wiley 1816–1871 and Hannah Bullard Wiley, born 1821. Her brother was Josiah Knowels Wiley 1852–1904 and she married Asa N. Snow or Asa V Snow 1857–1938 of Petersham, Worcester, Massachusetts. When Julia died in 1884, he remaried to Lucy Ida Spear Wiley, born 1863.

Julia's father's parents were Moses Wiley 1770–1842 and Pedia Smith Wiley 1778–1840 and the family descends back wirh many Wiley Moses to John Wiley 1615–1662 from Trusthorpe, England in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. He died in Massachusetts.

In the 1880 census she is listed as single and her occupation was a Music Teacher. She married Asa Snow, then sadly died at aged 27 yrs 8 mos & 28 days. Her death certificate relates her death as "abortion" which may refer to dying at childbirth. This beautiful portrait was found in Brimfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.

This family photo is slightly trimmed on bottom edge, usually to fit into the tight Victorian paper photo album sleeves. It does not affect her actual image in any way. This photo has a very beautiful and ornate advertising backmark for MOT Coleman, photographer.
