Bartow White (1776-1862) was born in Yorktown, Westchester County, NY. He studied medicine with his father, Dr. Ebenezer White. He was elected to the Nineteenth Congress (1825-1827) then resumed the medical practice and was a presidential elector on the Whig ticket in 1840. Census records list his family as wife Ann White, born in NY in 1784. Daughters: Octavia White, Novenia White, Mary White, and a son named Lewis White, or Lewis B. White. This CDV was Found in Greenwich, Connecticut, CT in Fairfield County. It is a beautiful old Civil War era CDV photo with an elder Dr. White or Doctor White sitting with his cane, age 86 years old, in the year of his death. 531 Yuckley: 1869 CDV Photo of Mrs. M.C. Yuckley, AL This is a CDV carte de visite photo of a young lady wearing a hoop skirt dress. She has a lightly tinted wreath in her hair and is a side portrait. We feel strongly that she is pregnant and near due, an unusual Southern Civil War era CDV photo and great for genealogy purposes. The photographer has added some coloring to the flowers in her hair and to the floor covering. The lady’s name is written lightly in pencil on the back; it appears as, "Mrs. M.C. Yuckley." Photo was taken by the photographer firm of Robinson & Murphy in Huntsville, Alabama, Madison County. The date 1869 is printed on the back of the mount, which is unusual. Affixed to the back of his wife's photo are 2 newspaper mourning obituaries with funeral info at St. Joseph's Church, by Rev. Father Henry Thameling. They had 6 sons: Leonard Kunkel, Anthony Kunkel, George Jr., Peter Kunkel, Matthew Kunkel and Joseph Kunkel. Her final service was given by Rev. Father Peter Scharoun. Mary was born in Altinger, Bavaria in 1834, daughter of Mathias Lance and Agnes Lance. She moved to America and lived at Reeder's Mills (we found evidence of a Reeder's Mill in Jefferson Township, Schoharie County NY, Marcy NY). She had 4 daughters: Mrs. Lawrence Strobel, Mrs. Joseph Beil, Mrs. John Schaub, Mrs. Peter Horn, 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Michael Miller of Whitesboro and one stepbrother, Mathew Lance of Forestport. See item number #3156 of his wife Mary Kunkel on our site. Their son George Junior married a Van Hatten family member in that area and is mentioned as one of 10 Kunkel children: Emma Kunkel, Leonard Kunkel, Anthony Kunkel, George M. Kunkel, Peter Kunkel, Mathew Kunkel, Joseph Kunkel, Mary Kunkel, Francis Kunkel, Kittie Kunkel. He married Louise Van Hatten, daughter of Michael Van Hatten and Mary Van Hatten. County: Perry, New York is in Wyoming County. Louella is wearing a lovely pre-WWI walking suit with large brimmed hat, and sits on an ornate carved chair in front of a painted backdrop. We were able to find information about Luella in web databases. Luella age 19 b. ca. 1891 appears in the 1910 census of Perry NY residing at home with her father Eugene L. and brother Francis Harter (Note: He could be Frank Harter in census records). In the 1900 census they also appear, with mother Lizzie M. Harter. (Note: Lizzie may be a nickname for Elizabeth Harter, Elisabeth Harter, Eliza Harter, or Liza Harter.) Her father appears in the 1880 census of Wethersfield, Wyoming County, residing with parents Hiram Harter and Helen Harter. In the 1870 census the family appears to reside in Watertown, Jefferson County. The Harter surname goes back to old families of the Mohawk Valley Region of NYS. In the 1920 census Luella is married to Amos Link and has a small daughter, this young family residing with her widowed father in Perry. In the 1930 census Luella Link and family have their own household in Perry. Found in Seneca Falls NY in Seneca County.
